Working Dogs of Nevada is a specialized animal rescue dedicated to dogs with behavioral challenges—many of whom are at risk of euthanasia or considered unadoptable by other shelters and rescues. Our mission also includes caring for pregnant dogs and mothers with newborn puppies, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment during such a critical time
Often, puppies born to malnourished mothers require bottle feeding and specialized care due to the mother’s inability to nourish them properly. We provide the necessary support to ensure both mother and puppies have the best chance at survival and a healthy start to life. Once they are ready, we place these dogs into carefully vetted, loving homes. This initiative not only saves the lives of vulnerable dogs but also provides families with a compassionate alternative to obtaining a puppy from backyard breeders, puppy mills, or pet stores.
The majority of adult dogs we take in have behavioral issues, including fear-based or reactive aggression toward people or other animals. Many of these dogs have been scheduled for euthanasia due to such concerns. At Working Dogs of Nevada, we provide each dog with a customized training program designed to address their specific behavioral needs.
Our ultimate goal is to rehabilitate these dogs to the point where they may be donated as service dogs to individuals with disabilities. For dogs who do not meet the criteria for service work, we match them with forever homes that are specifically chosen to meet their unique needs.
